About Dr. Havelka

Dr. Erika Garcia Havelka is a board-certified emergency medicine physician. As a member of IEMS clinical leadership, she is on staff at Advent Health Hinsdale, La Grange, Bolingbrook, and Glen Oaks hospitals. She received her medical degree from the University of Illinois School of Medicine. She did her residency at Advocate Christ Medical and Trauma Center where she also served as Chief Resident. She has been in practice since 2005and a member of IEMS since 2008. 

Dr. Havelka choose to practice in her community and takes pride in providing the best care possible to all per patients. In order to better serve, she finds it critical to work with community services in the area, the nursing staff, interdepartmentally with colleagues, and administration. Thus, she is very involved and had many roles outside of her clinical shifts. 

She serves as the Pediatric Champion Physician. In this role, she trains and provides ongoing education to the nursing staff and her colleagues in the care of pediatric patients in the emergency department at all four hospitals. She is a volunteer instructor at the local paramedic training programs and supervises resident and paramedic clinical training in the emergency department. Since her arrival at IEMS, Dr. Havelka has served as the liaison to the trauma, pediatric, and behavioral health join committees. Dr. Havelka assists and participates in the continuous effort to maintain the hospitals’ preparedness for emergency management. She works with the hospital coordinator and training with the surrounding fire and police departments.
